ELEV8 Jake Gillis Commits to LIU Post

Jake gillis

Jake Gillis verbally commits to LIU Post University in Brookville, Nassau County, NY. He’s the first ELEV8 Lacrosse student-athlete to commit to the Division II program.

We spoke with Jake to share his commitment. We encourage student-athletes and parents alike to read and learn from his story.

High School: Robert Thirsk, Class of 2017

College Commitment:  LIU Post University, Class of 2023

Current Club Team: 2018 ELEV8 Elite

On his experience with ELEV8 Coaching Staff:

“ELEV8 Coaches pushed me to find a level of play that I thought I could never attain and they keep pushing me to discover new abilities that will help a lot down the road. The biggest lesson they taught me was have confidence in myself and don’t get down over small things.”

On his experience with the recruitment process:

“These past few months of lacrosse have really stood out because everything that I’ve worked so hard on; such as my skill, strength/conditioning, and school have finally come together giving me the opportunity to get an education through a sport that I love.”

On his advice to other student-athletes pursuing NCAA aspirations:

If you really want something you have to invest a lot of time into it and really commit to every aspect that will help you achieve your goal.”

ELEV8 Head Coach Geoff Snider on Jake Gillis:

“Over the last five years while playing with ELEV8, Jake has participated in EXPtc (Exposure Training Camp), Elite Fall Travel Teams, Winter Training and Calgary Field developing into a dynamic offensive threat and exceptional student-athlete. Jake is eager to get to the goal and finish his opportunities. Jake sees the field very well, working tightly with teammates, all while anticipating the play and making his teammates better while working around him.  Off the field Jake is mature and is focused in the classroom, bringing a very positive work ethic and attitude to any program he is a part of, LIU will benefit from Jake being a part of their student body and lacrosse program.”
